Aït Ahmane, Morocco
Aït Ahmane, Bou Azer District , Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
A world-class gersdorffite grouping from Aït Ahmane, Bou Azer District, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province, Souss-Massa-Draâ Region, Morocco. The crystals measure up to 2.4cm in size (huge for the species); and they have a very high metallic luster that shines like chrome when turned around in your hand. You really have to see the quality in person to believe it. The gersdorffite is accentuated beautifully with a bit of contrasting, green-stained quartz matrix. The green staining is presumably from copper minerals. Some minor damage here and there but still a musem-level specimen of major significance for the species.
