Copper psm. Azurite
Copper Rose Mine, USA
Copper Rose Mine , San Lorenzo, Georgetown District, Grant Co., New Mexico, USA
A fantatsic psuedomorph of copper after an azurite rosette from the Copper Rose Mine Grant Co., New Mexico, USA! These superb pseudomorphs are among the most rare and coveted US psuedomorphs out there – most were collected many decades ago, going back to the days of George English, famed mineral dealer at the turn of the 20th century! This outstanding thumbnail shows sharp pseudomorphic crystals of copper after azurite. The specimen developed as a floater, having been a fully crystallized rosette of azurite – its’ chemistry was then altered to copper. The copper shows a nice patina, and the arrangement of the crystals is highly aesthetic. One small broken crystal on the bottom of the backside.
