Cuprian Smithsonite with Rosasite on Dolomite
Tsumeb Mine, Namibia
Dolomite, Rosasite, Smithsonite (= Cuprian Smithsonite)
Tsumeb Mine , Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region , Namibia
A stunning specimen featuring blue-green cuprian smithsonite rhombs on a white dolomite matrix with small rosasite aggregates from the famous Tsumeb Mine, in Namibia’s Otjikoto Region. This material is quite difficult to find on the market these days. I only know of one pocket that produced this combination and have only seen several good examples. The color of the smithsonite is vibrant and is offset nicely by the white dolomite matrix and deep teal-blue of the rosasite. Crystals to 9mm. No significant damage. The specimen comes with a custom acrylic base.
